The pitmaster’s passion for BBQ was ignited when he bought a pit off the side of the road in 2003. Soon after he got his first smoker, Jay jumped into the competition circuit in Texas. He found his calling.
His skills at competition BBQ led Jay to win after win, including picking up the heralded Grand Champion honor at the 2018 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo’s BBQ Cookoff, the largest competition in the state. Jay was also a contestant on season one of the Travel Channel show “American Grilled.”
Now, Jay is expanding his Tinney Barbecue catering business and serving his competition-winning food to as many people as he can. He’s also offering consulting for BBQ restaurants and bars. Jay wants to take BBQ to the next level.
